Semi-clumping stems with usually 1 to 4 lighter spines per areole. Spines range from whitish, to straw colored. Some have flowers of the purest colored scarlet of any trig I've seen, including the pollen.

Right now the harsiest trig we offer, growing up over 8000 ft. Some have the typical trig spines, but others can be quite contorted, and twisted. Spines are more of a grayish white in appearance. Large scarlet trumpet flowers in late spring.

Echinocereus triglochidiatus Rio Grande Co. Colorado 7500 ft. /Zone 4/ Semi-clumping plants of probably the cold hardiest trig to date. Comes mainly in straw, or white spines, but occasionally can show dark, which can be straight or even curved almost like E. mojavensis. Has nice sized Scarlet trumpet flowers.
